How to Do Basic Cross-Stitches - Shared How Tos
You'll need to know basic stitches in order to complete your cross-stitch project.
Procedure
1. Choose a cross-stitch pattern you want to make. Select your starting point of your pattern.
2. Thread the tapestry needle with the specified color of embroidery floss strands.
3. Position the threaded needle at the back of the fabric and bring the needle up all the way through your starting point.
4. Do a cross-stitch by making a half cross-stitch and then make another half cross-stitch in the opposite direction to form an "In making a half cross-stitch, bring the needle up through one hole in the fabric and then down through the hole that is diagonaX".
5. In making a half cross-stitch, bring the needle up through one hole in the fabric and then down through the hole that is diagonal.
6. In backstitching, bring the needle up through one hole. Go backward over the indicated number of threads, then push the needle down through the appropriate hole in the fabric.
